Lyman Lab of Insect Evolution and Genomics

Welcome to the Lyman Lab at McGill University

We study the biological patterns and processes that influence our planet’s biodiversity. Using insects as a study system, the Lyman Lab explores how evolution has shaped biodiversity through space and time. Insects account for most of the multicellular species-richness of life on Earth, and as a result, their phylogenetic history and diversification are central to understanding the evolution of life more generally. Through our three main research topics, we combine multiple data sources to understand several aspects of insect evolution.
